Upscaling Not Ready For Primetime

After many discussions in several stores I chose this 4K TV, as people in the industry indicate that 4k is the future of tv. For those of us that are not playing 4k content the future is not here yet. The upscaling of 2k to 4k shows its problems, which many could probably predict. I am not a 4k content viewer, so this review may benefit those that are considering a new tv for watching 2k content. For bright images and slow moving action the image quality is quite impressive. Dark scenes, or dark regions, may show conversion artifacts. Scenes with fast moving camera moves may see the image lag and jump. Backgrounds with simple gradation of color show conversion artifacts. Upscaling of text, and especially scrolling text, does not always result in a crisp image. I also notice a break in the audio about every 8 minutes. I have not investigated whether the upscaling causes this audio break, however brief. If you are a casual 2k content television view I would recommend staying with a 2k television set. If you are a 4k viewer this set should perform to your expectations. The set is relatively light in weight, easy to unpackage and install. You will need to spend some time with color and brightness settings to ge the display to your viewing preferences. For those that watch older content in 4:3 aspect ratio, if stretched images bother you, you will need to adjust the display aspect ratio manually. There is an option for auto sizing of the image, but this does not always scale older content (due to provider signal). I do not use all of the features available, so I gave this the average rating for features.

Amazing Picture and Capability

WE are enjoying so much about this TV and its UHD capability and options. People look like they are in the room as if they were theater actors. Everything is so much sharper, clearer and realistic. Compared this to Sony, LG, Sharp and other TVs, best value.

I did much research in looking to replace my aging Sony Bravia (12 yrs old). All points lead to the Samsung line and the model I chose was a great value with superb color and picture. As a retired guy, the "smart tv" features are ok...don't use them much yet as that only gets me more channels to watch with nothing on... Picture is sharp, clear and great resolution...the only down-side is you have to be directly in-front of the tv of the picture quickly gets washed out looking...but heck...just move the couch.

Samsung is the Only Television Brand that my family will Ever Buy

This is my third Samsung Television and I only purchased a new model because I wanted to upgrade the Television to 4K in my bedroom. This particular model had everything that I was looking for in a new TV. The price points was well within our budget, and since the Television arrived it has been unbelievably hard not to watch it constantly. My 16 year old daughter was the beneficiary of our older model and she is so excited to have it! Set-up was so easy, and with the new, "Smart Remote" I am able to control all of the devices with that one remote control. The devices, Apple TV, and a earlier edition Samsung Smart BlueRay, and our Aris DVR from Charter Spectrum can all be easily controlled by the new Samsung, "Smart Remote" which macke's life very convenient. The picture is nothing short of awesome! Using some custom settings I found posted on the AVS forum has made watching purely enjoyable!

Great Tv, but RVU is completely misleading

The TV has awesome apps, great picture, but don't buy it for RVU if you expect it to be wireless. Direct TV, Best Buy and Samsung advertise the RVU as a plug and play feature where you don't need a cable box. While that may be, "truthful," it is misleading. You have to have a coaxial ran from a cable box to get the RVU feature to work or run an ethernet cable from the box. How is that cable free box? Deceptive to say the least if you expect to plug in the tv, hook it up to a wireless network, and receive satellite reception. RVU is great if you want to run multiple tv's in the same location, but if you want to connect the tv to direct tv, you either have to have pre-wired coaxial or ethernet from the main cable box, or get a wireless receiver and run it through hdmi which completely defeats the purpose of the RVU in my opinion. I was told by best buy, direct tv and samsung that it RVU replaced the cable box, but not one of the 3 told me it still required a physical connection which seems quite deceptive. Don't expect the RVU to be like a built in cable card where you just call to add service to the tv because that's what I thought and was dead wrong. Unbelievably though, even after all of that, the tv is still the best looking tv ascetically and by performance on the market. I decided to keep the tv instead of returning it for a significantly less expensive television based on it's performance. The 7000 series is truly stunning, getting past the ",mass misinformation,"it's without hesitation worth every penny if you are looking for an amazing top of the line television (aside from SUHD tv's, but you wouldn't even be reading this if you were considering dropping the dollars for that set).

Outstanding TV

Had this tv for a week now. I paired it up with a Samsung speaker bar as well. I can't say enough good things. Great HD picture and great sound bar. Had a bit of trouble connecting to my home network, but I love gadgets and tinkering and once I did get a good network connection, it is absolutely terrific. Great value! Great upgrade from my 11 year old Samsung DLP. Highly recommend.
